pretty good for the cost

I bought this antenna at a surplus store for about 1/3 retail price of the big box store. We only have one digital TV channel and one analog remaining on the air. Both are very strong for me, so this antenna is actually overkill, but I couldn't resist the price. I'm a radio scanner enthusiast, so I had other plans for this antenna besides TV. As it turns out, the amplifier suffered trouble handling the very strong fm and analog TV signal, which caused overload and unstable performance under these conditions. This is why I only gave 3 stars outnof 5 for performance. My house is about 4 miles from 5 high power fm broadcast stations and a high power analog vhf-low TV station, so overload is expected. It's just too bad that the amp couldn't deal with the high levels like my other standalone Philips amp can do! I have two Philips 18dB standalone catv boosters on my vhf omni and they have no problem cranking out the clean power to my receiver along a very long coax. As for the scanner performance, I connected it to my RTL sdr receiver and found that it didn't work very well in the vhf band for weather radio, not surprising given itsdigital TV ambitions. It is really good at uhf and up compared to my 2m ham vertical antenna, obviously. 855 trunking reception is very good unless the amp overloads.
Proscheap, lots of gain
Consrg59 coax exit pigtail and connector not very good, exit pigtail connector is delicate

power injector has issues!
Posted24 April 2013
I bought the sdv 8622t and placed it at the highest point on my roof, connected the power injector and got no signal. I moved to different locations and nothing. Every time I connected the power injector I would lose signal. Maybe it was defective I do not know. All I know is that I bought a no name brand antenna from a small neighborhood store and it worked awesome at half the cost. I was so dissapointed that I did not even return it, I just threw it away.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Powerful Station Pickup at a distance

I live in an area that requires at least a 50 or 60 mile rated antenna. This antenna dis a better than average job of bringing in at least 19 channels of Air HD. Had no failures with the amplification booster ! Overall a good antenna. I can only imagine the results if i lived closer to the broadcast towers!
Proseasy to hook up and use!
Consafter 3 yrs lost waterproofing.had to reseal!

Review 4 for Philips Digital TV antenna SDV8622T Indoor/outdoor 18 dB amplified
Excellent, low-profile, reasonably priced antenna

A few months back I decided to "cut the cord" (cancelled my pricey satellite service). I installed an inexpensive antenna indoors that received nearly 30 digital stations (most of my local station transmitters are within 5 miles of my home), but sometimes the signal strength would dip and a couple of stations would pixelate or disappear altogether. So, I decided to upgrade to an outdoor antenna. I purchased & installed this model and the signal strength improved on all my channels, from the 50-80% range to 75-100%! This is a very solid antenna. However, some tips: 1) It's beneficial to use better coax than what's provided in the box. In my case, I swapped out this antenna with my old satellite dish and used the RG6 coaxial cable that was already in place, making for a simple hookup & install 2) It's absolutely imperative to use the amplifier that's included (I tried the antenna without the amplifier and received no channels)
So, overall this is an excellent buy, but it requires a bit of time and patience. Moreover, it's very reasonably priced as most comparable outdoor antennas that cover UHF as well as the entire VHF spectrum are much more expensive, In addition, it's ideal if you're looking for something that won't dominate your roof (I live in a condo and most rooftop antennas would be too large per my CC&Rs).
Prosexcellent value, easy installation, good solid construction, environmentally friendly
